Hello everyone, hope you are well...on with the news...

Live @Lovibonds - this Friday Night (TONIGHT)

Wow, our first Live @Lovibonds was a massive hit, thanks to everyone for coming out and rocking with us!  Also a massive thanks to the bands and people that helped pull it all together.   Friday November 4th music starts at 9:00, bar open at 2:30

Well, we're back at it tonight and we've got a couple great local bands set to blow the doors off of our place.  Music starts at 9:00, the tasting room is open from 2:30 as usual.

Opening it up is a band called Last Tuesdays including one of our diehard regulars Rob.

Headlining is a local young rock band called FiveThirtyOne  They recently won the Marlow Regatta Battle of the Bands, so you know they rock.  You can check out their webpage here or their facebook fanpage here

Beer Duty

<rant> Don't talk to me about HMRC and Beer Duty unless you want to get a real earful.  The Government continues to try to tax us out of business.  I'm not sure how many of you know this, but Beer Duty in the UK increases with the percentage of alcohol, so a 3.75% beer is half the duty of a 7.5% beer.  And those rates have gone up over 40% since we started in business...

In the infinite wisdom of this government they've decided to add EVEN MORE tax for beers 7.5% and above.  This is supposed to target the Special Brew binge drinker, but the real effect is in stifling innovation even more in British brewing.

If you don't do anything else with this newsletter, please, please go sign this petition </rant>

While Britain has only 12% of the EU population and 13% of total beer consumption, the UK Beer Tax bill has now reached £3.2b a year - that is 40% of the EU Beer Tax Bill.

Fresh Hop IPA on the bar

The Hop Harvest Open day may be a distant memory, but you can now taste the results.  It's tasting good, so get it while it lasts.

For this years brew we used the same malt bill and yeast that we use for our 69 IPA, with the only difference being that we used the hops that we (and some of our customers) grew...

Let Me Tell You About Beer

We are very fortunate to be included in Melissa Coles new book, "Let Me Tell You About Beer".  Melissa is one of the leading UK beer writers and just one of the coolest beer people we know.

This is a beginners guide to all things brewed, so if you are interested in learning more, this laid back book is your answer.  You can order via Amazon here

She chose to highlight our Sour Grapes in her chapter on sour beer...this beer is part of a very special project working its magic in Pinot Noir casks in our cellar and I PROMISE it will get bottled soon.

One keg did make it out of the brewery earlier this week for the launch party where it was a serious hit, blowing away everyone who tried it including Oz Clarke (who I must say is a true gentleman)...

That's all folks,
Jeff
